I ate here with some friends tonight and I have to say, I am impressed with the quality of the food. I wasn’t confident that I would find good Thai food in Tulsa, but this place really does a great job. I won’t go so far as to say it is the most authentic Thai food I’ve ever had, but the flavors were really good, portions were of a healthy size and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
We started off our meal with an order of the shrimp and pork spring rolls. The order came with 4 decent sized rolls and a side of peanut butter dipping sauce. They were honestly some of the better spring rolls I have had and would absolutely order them next time I go in!
Next we ordered a round of the Gai Tom Ka soup. The creamy broth was filled with chicken, mushroom, white onion and sprinkled with green onion and what seemed to be cilantro. The soup was a bit too hot to eat right away, but was so good that every last drop was either devoured or saved as leftovers.
I ordered the Gong Gai with Beef at a Medium spice level. I think it was right on the money in terms of spice, but the others thought it was hotter than they were expecting. The portion and flavors were both great and would definitely be something I’d order again!
The Massaman Curry with Chicken was a bit heavier on the peanut flavor than I am used to, but was also really delicious.
The Drunken Noodles with Shrimp was definitely over sauced with soy, which was a bit disappointing, but the noodles and shrimp were perfectly cooked saved the dish.
Overall, I would patron this place again. The quality and flavors of the food were very good. We didn’t think that the price was ridiculous for the portions of food served, so I wouldn’t bother going to any dive joints for subpar food just because it’s cheaper. Save yourself the wasted time and money and just come to Bamboo Thai Bistro!
